Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 June 2026

Tube Guard ("we", "us", or "our") is a parent-controlled service that lets parents and guardians approve specific YouTube channels for their children to watch. We built this product to protect children, and protecting your privacy is part of that promise.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service.

Information you provide as a parent

  • Account details such as your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
  • A parent PIN (stored in hashed form) used to protect access to parent controls.
  • Child profiles you create, which may include a first name or nickname, age or age group, an avatar, and selected interests.
  • Settings you choose, such as approved channels, daily watch limits, and bedtime schedules.

Information collected automatically

  • Watch activity for each child profile, such as which approved videos were watched and for how long, used to power usage insights and enforce limits.
  • Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as session information and log data.

Subscription and payment information

  • If you purchase a subscription or start a free trial, we collect your subscription status, plan, and purchase history.
  • Payments are processed by our subscription and payment provider (RevenueCat). We receive confirmation of your purchase and your subscription status, but we do not collect or store your full payment card details.
  • If you redeem an access code, we record that the code was redeemed against your account.

We do not ask children to create accounts, and children do not sign in directly. All profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian.

2. How we use information

  • To provide and operate the service, including showing only parent-approved channels and videos.
  • To create and manage child profiles and apply the limits and schedules you set.
  • To generate watch history and usage insights for you, the parent.
  • To secure accounts and protect parent controls with your password and PIN.
  • To process subscriptions, free trials, and payments, and to handle billing-related support.
  • To respond to your support requests and communicate important service updates.
  • To maintain, improve, and troubleshoot the service.

We do not sell your personal information or your children's information, and we do not use it to serve behavioural advertising.

3. Children's privacy

Tube Guard is designed to be operated by adults on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Child profile information is provided and controlled by the parent or guardian who created the account.

As a parent, you can review, edit, or delete any child profile and its associated data at any time from your dashboard, or by contacting us. Deleting a profile removes its associated data, including watch history, from active systems.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental involvement, please contact us so we can address it.

4. YouTube API Services

Tube Guard uses YouTube API Services to search for channels and to retrieve channel and video information. By using our service, you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service.

Google's handling of your information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We use YouTube data only to power channel discovery and playback of parent-approved content within our app — access to that content stays controlled by Tube Guard. We do not use YouTube data to build advertising profiles of you or your children.

5. Cookies and sessions

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your session, and keep the service secure. These are necessary for the service to function. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

With your consent, we also use optional analytics cookies from Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our parent and public pages (for example, which pages cause people to drop off) so we can improve them. These are never used on the children’s viewing experience. They are off by default and only run after you accept them in our cookie banner. You can decline at any time, and declining does not affect your use of the service. To change your choice later, clear this site’s data in your browser and the banner will appear again.

6. How information is shared

We share information only as needed to run the service or as required by law:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that store our database and run the service on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
  • RevenueCat, our subscription and payment provider, which processes purchases and manages subscription status. We share an account identifier and the subscription details needed to manage your plan.
  • Resend, our email delivery provider, which we use to send account and service emails (such as password resets and support replies). It processes the email address and message content we send.
  • Microsoft Clarity, our optional analytics provider, which — only if you consent — receives usage and interaction data from our parent and public pages to produce aggregate heatmaps and session insights. It is never used on the children's experience.
  • Google / YouTube, when we request channel and video data through YouTube API Services, and — if you choose to sign in with your Google account — to authenticate you.
  • Authorities or third parties where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete child profiles or your entire account at any time. When you do, we remove the associated personal data from active systems, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and PINs and restricting access to data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and continually improve our safeguards.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export it, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Access and update most information directly from your parent dashboard.
  • Delete child profiles or your whole account at any time.
  • Contact us to exercise any of these rights or ask a question.

If you are in the UK or EU, our legal bases for processing include performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

10. International data transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this Policy and applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
